Seven Opening Analysis

The opening of Seven shows somebody to be planning or investigating something as it shows a book that someone is reading and then to be filling. The middle part  presents writing that the hidden character is underlining and crossing out.The camera has been used to portray thriller convection as it looks like a horror film. The director has also chosen colours that will stand out from the rest as red may be for blood and blue may be for innocence. There are also shades of grey and black which makes images with primary colours stand out. It also displays disturbing photographs which are being cut out fast. The director has made it a very dark film and the gloom is often penetrated only by the flashlights of the detectives. This indicates that the person is nasty or has a violent personality.

City of God opening Analysis

The opening of City Of God starts of by a sharp blade scraping a rock then the screen becomes blank making it difficult for the audience to see whats happening but easier to hear(Digetic). As the blade is being sharpened even more it gives supsense to the audience because we don't know what exactly the blade is being sharpened for. There is also cross-cutting being used and different shots of action which occur in different places of the opening.

We then see a group of people that are preparing chicken which is very different to European culture as they don't kill animals in preparation for dinner they go out and buy whereas the people in this film are running trying to get the chicken.By doing this the director makes us think where this film could of been set and what may be the purpose of it being set where it is.
Then there is cross-cutting shots of people with no shoes which may suggest that could have been set in a slum or a poor place.

Then as the chicken is being prepared the audience can hear diegetic sounds from people drumming.

We then get a close up shot of a chicken wriggling themselves from a rope is shown diegetic onscreen sound of the drumming stops and cut an extreme shot of a chickens blood on a plate which implies the theme of the film may be about blood and violence and chickens may suggest that chicken may be the first part of killing. After that we see a dark man speaking in a foreign language.

Cross cutting is used between the two scenes.

Three Colours Blue Opening Analysis

The opening film of the french film three colours blue started off with a blank screen but became appealing to the audience as one wheel of the car was showing and not the other wheel infront of the back wheel. This makes it strange and very usual. This was done by a camera next to the wheel on the ground capturing only one wheel and cutting the other wheels of the car out.

The director then makes the audience feel very uncomfortable and out of zone as the sound used creates the sense of rushing and fear which draws our attention. We also see the scene of the car lights illuminating on the motorway then the small girl looks out of the window which suggests to us that this is her point of view from  the book.We as an audience get tricked into believing that the car is actually movinf on the motorway when really its just being passed rocked from side to side on a stage sette. The street lights we see passing the car were just done by people holding lights above. The next scene we see is the car stopped on the motorway most likely early morning as we see the girls father yawning which implies that he may be tired from the driving through the night.

The director also shows us oil leakage from a pipe under the car which foreshadows danger may occur later on and the little may be affected as shes running in the background or it could tell us that the whole film may be about her. Then the next scene occurs in the car crashing into the tree and we get a glimpse of a arm flying out of the car and a girl screaming and this is when the boy goes to the car to try and help attempt to rescue her. If u watch carefully in detail you can see the arm coming out of the car which suggests the filming for this part maybe was rushed or not of good quality.
